Active - ProclamationJul 20, 2026Imposing Additional Duties To Offset Canadian Discrimination Against the Commerce of the United States With Respect to Motor Vehicles
This proclamation, issued under section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, finds that Canada discriminates against U.S. commerce through its motor vehicle tariff scheme, including a 25 percent tariff and tariff-rate quotas applied only to U.S. vehicles. To offset that burden, it imposes an additional 50 percent ad valorem duty on certain products of Canada identified in Annex II, effective 12:01 a.m. eastern time on August 19, 2026, excluding articles subject to section 232 duties and articles (other than unmanned aircraft) covered by the WTO Agreement on Trade in Civil Aircraft. Covered products admitted into a U.S. foreign trade zone must be admitted under "privileged foreign status", and the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in consultation with the Secretaries of the Treasury and Commerce and the United States Trade Representative, is authorized to issue implementing rules and modify the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.

Active - MemorandumJul 15, 2026Action by the United States in the Investigation Under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 of Brazil's Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Digital Trade and Electronic Payment Services; Unfair, Preferential Tariffs; Anti-Corruption Enforcement; Intellectual Property Protection; Ethanol Market Access; and Illegal Deforestation
This memorandum directs the United States Trade Representative to impose a 25 percent tariff on all goods of Brazil, following a Section 301 investigation initiated on July 15, 2025, into Brazil's acts, policies, and practices related to digital trade and electronic payment services, preferential tariffs, anti-corruption enforcement, intellectual property protection, ethanol market access, and illegal deforestation. The Trade Representative determined on June 1, 2026, that certain of these practices are actionable under Section 301(b)(1), and consultations with Brazil failed to resolve U.S. concerns. Products identified in the Annex are exempted from the tariff, including raw materials whose taxation could lead to unavailability of domestic supply and products that cannot be produced in sufficient quantities in the United States, and the Trade Representative is directed to modify the Harmonized Tariff Schedule accordingly.
