Summary

This proclamation concurs with the Secretary of Commerce's finding under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 that imports of commercial aircraft, jet engines, and their associated parts threaten to impair U.S. national security. Rather than imposing immediate tariffs, it directs the Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to jointly pursue or continue negotiations with foreign trading partners to address the threat and to update the President within 180 days. The Secretary of Commerce is also directed to continue monitoring these imports and inform the President of any circumstances warranting further action under section 232.
