Restoring the United States Department of War

This EO authorizes the DoD to adopt the secondary title "Department of War" and "Secretary of War" in official and ceremonial contexts. It directs the Secretary of Defense to report on initial implementation and recommend steps for a permanent name change, while clarifying that statutory references and legal authorities remain unchanged pending further legislative action.

The Secretary shall submit to the President a notification for transmittal to the Congress of any office, executive department or agency, component, or command that begins using a secondary Department of War designation (30 days). The Secretary shall submit to the President a recommendation on the actions required to permanently change the name of the DoD to the Department of War (60 days).
