Honoring the American History of the Great Lakes and Renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America

This EO directs the Secretary of the Interior, in coordination with the Board on Geographic Names, to rename Lake Ontario as "Lake America" within 30 days, citing the Lake's role in American commerce, defense, and energy supply and the United States' investment in the Great Lakes. The Secretary and Board must update the Geographic Names Information System to reflect the renaming and remove references to Lake Ontario, and the Board must issue guidance so all federal maps, contracts, and documents reflect the new name. The Department of the Interior bears the costs of publication.
