Summary

This Executive Order temporarily modifies certain tariffs imposed on imports from the People’s Republic of China (PRC), including Hong Kong and Macau, under prior Executive Orders related to trade imbalances and national security. Citing progress in trade discussions with the PRC, the President suspends a portion of the previously imposed tariffs for 90 days, lowering the ad valorem duty on specified imports from 34% or higher to 10%. The Order also reduces the tariff on certain low-value imports tied to the synthetic opioid supply chain from 120% to 54%, while maintaining a $100 duty per postal item. The modifications take effect May 14, 2025. Implementation is delegated to relevant agencies in coordination with the White House.
